The Origin of the Universe: Scientific American
The Jocaxian Nothingness [Nada Jocaxiano] Joýo Carlos Holland de Barcellos translated by Debora Policastro
The Jocaxian Nothingness (JN) is the Nothingness that exists. It is a physical system devoid not only of physical elements and physical laws, but also of rules of any kind.
In order to understand and intuit JN as an existent nothingness , we can mentally build it as follows: we withdraw all the matter, energy and the field they generate from the universe. Then we can withdraw dark energy and dark matter. What is left is something that is not the nonexistent. Let us continue our mental experiment and suppress elements of the universe: now, we withdraw physical laws and spatial dimensions. If we do not forget to withdraw anything, what is left is a JN: an existent nothingness.

Massachusetts reassessing energy subsidies
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT BEAT
SOLAR PLANT SNUFFED: A solar power plant in Devens, Massachusetts, that had been promised $58 million in state aid in 2008 will shut down in March, costing the state more than 800 jobs. The move has Massachusetts lawmakers rethinking the wisdom of such subsidies, the Boston Globe reports. “A lot of people are very skeptical now,” says House Speaker Robert DeLeo. Evergreen Solar Inc., a Massachusetts-based company, said it was closing the plant because China offers more generous subsidies for solar manufacturing. Evergreen will have to repay some, but not all, of the grants and tax breaks that Massachusetts has given it. Governor Deval Patrick’s administration indicated it would pursue more aggressive “clawback” provisions in future subsidy deals to give the state more of its money back if a business doesn’t live up to its commitments.
Home Energy Audit Arizona
Home energy audit: a healthy, energy efficient home in Arizona
The majority of homes in America suffer from performance problems ranging from inflated energy consumption to poor thermal comfort to indoor air quality issues.
“If you are interested in getting specific recommendations for improving the efficiency of your home, consider contacting a professional Home Energy Auditor. A professional auditor can use a variety of techniques and equipment to determine the energy efficiency of your home. Thorough audits often use equipment such as blower doors, which measure the extent of leaks in the building envelope, and infrared cameras, which reveal hard-to-detect areas of air infiltration and missing insulation.” – EPA’s Energy Star.

List of Recipients for $2.7 Million in Grants for Arizona Renewable Energy Companies
PHOENIX – Governor Jan Brewer is awarding seven Arizona renewable energy companies more than $2.7 million to advance their operations and create nearly 180 new jobs for Arizonans. The awards come through the Manufacturers’ Energy-Efficiency Grant Assistance (MEGA) Program at the Arizona Commerce Authority, and are targeted at creating and implementing energy solutions.
“These awards invest in the latest technologies to advance Arizona’s position as a global renewable energy leader while creating new, good jobs,” said Governor Jan Brewer. “Investment in our state’s emerging renewable energy industry will have lasting benefits and lead to long-term market transformation which will build a more sustainable Arizona economy.”
Wind And Solar Can Reliably Supply 25 Percent Of Oahu’s Electricity Need
Wind And Solar Can Reliably Supply 25 Percent Of Oahu’s Electricity Need
This is the Kahuku Wind Project, which was included in the Oahu Wind Integration Study. Credit: Hawaiian Electric Company by Staff Writers Manoa HI (SPX) Mar 23, 2011 When combined with on-Oahu wind farms and solar energy, the Interisland Wind project planned to bring 400 megawatts (MW) of wind power from Molokai and Lanai to Oahu could reliably supply more than 25% of Oahu’s projected electricity demand, according to the Oahu Wind Integration Study (OWIS).
For the purposes of the research project, the OWIS studied the impact on the Oahu grid of a total of 500 MW of wind energy and a nominal 100 MW of solar power, though a good deal more utility-scale and customer-sited solar power is expected on Oahu.
The study found that the 500 MW of wind and 100 MW of solar power could eliminate the need to burn approximately 2.8 million barrels of low sulfur fuel oil (LSFO) and 132,000 tons of coal each year while maintaining system reliability, if a number of recommendations are incorporated, including:

Pros and Cons of Solar – Pros of Solar Power Increasing Every Year Green World Investor
Solar Power is the only form of Energy whose costs are continuously declining compared to other forms of Energy. This is one of the biggest advantages of Solar Power over other renewable and non-renewable forms of energy.Solar Energy costs have declined by over 50% in the last 2-3 years even as Coal,Oil,Gas and other Energy costs have gone up.While Wind Energy costs have declined in the last year the overall trend is increasing as the costs of copper and steel go up.This is one of the main reasons why solar energy demand has gone up by 150% in 2010.With solar costs going down by another 10% each year over the next few years, expect Solar Energy to grow at a further fast rate in the future as well after growing at 50% CAGR over the last decade. Here are some of the advantages of Solar Energy over other non-renewable energy forms
1) Environment Friendly – Solar Energy does not lead to any major mining activity, does not lead to significant GHG emissions, does not lead to health hazards like thermal power
2) Declining Costs – Solar Costs are declining at a rapid pace and are rapidly approaching grid parity in most parts of the world. The use of semiconductor techniques ensures that the costs should continue to decline in the future as well
Sacramento Ca report installing solar home payback tops other energy efficiencies
Sacramento – A new report commissioned by the California Solar Energy Industries Association says investing in residential solar will pay back faster than other forms of home improvement investments such as window replacement. With rising energy costs a home can benefit faster by installing solar.
Typical U.S. homes will cut their energy bills the most by generating their own power, rather than implementing energy efficiency measures. The news report, entitled “Reducing Home Energy Costs by Combining Solar and Energy Efficiency,” was written with the support of the California Solar Energy Industries Association.
The report, released recently in Sacramento, California, used Department of Energy software to evaluate three different ages of homes (old, typical and new) in 10 U.S. cities for a total of 30 different test simulations to decide what combination of energy efficiency and solar renewable generation makes the most sense for homeowners.
